Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 25th Aug 2026

These Terms & Conditions apply to balikbayan box, cargo, pickup, delivery, packing, crating, and related services provided by Kabayan Cargo, a service of Airlink International UAE.

By submitting a booking, requesting a service, or handing cargo to Kabayan Cargo for shipment, you agree to the applicable terms below.

1. Service Requests & Availability

Service requests may be submitted through our website or other approved communication channels. Submitting a preferred date or time does not automatically confirm a schedule. All deliveries, collections, and other service requests are subject to confirmation, route availability, service coverage, and operational capacity. Kabayan Cargo may accept, decline, or reschedule a request where necessary. Customers are encouraged to submit pickup and empty-box requests 1–2 weeks in advance whenever possible.

2. Pickup & Delivery Scheduling

Customers may request a preferred date and choose Morning, Afternoon, or Anytime when available. Confirmed schedules may occasionally need to be adjusted because of driver availability, routing, weather, access restrictions, or other operational circumstances. Customers may request free rescheduling before the scheduled collection or delivery day.

If a visit cannot be completed because the customer is unavailable or cannot be contacted, Kabayan Cargo may contact the customer to arrange another schedule. Customers should inform us in advance about any access restrictions or difficult-to-reach locations.

3. Empty Box Deposits

The current deposit for empty boxes is:

  • Single or Combo Box: AED 50
  • Drum: AED 150

The deposit is due when the empty box is delivered. Where an eligible deposit credit remains available, it may be applied against the shipment amount when the packed cargo is collected. Customers should retain their deposit or receipt reference for future verification.

4. Rates & Charges

Current rates are available on our Rates page or through an approved quotation. Rates, cargo charges, packing charges, and other service prices may change from time to time. Odd-size cargo and eligible boxes obtained from other providers may be charged based on cubic meter (CBM), destination, and applicable minimum charges.

Additional services such as packing and wooden crating are charged separately where requested or required.

5. Payment

All payments are in UAE Dirhams (AED).

Accepted payment methods may include:

  • Cash
  • Bank transfer
  • Credit card
  • Debit card
  • Tabby

Additional processing charges may apply to certain card or installment payment methods. Empty-box deposits are payable upon box delivery. Shipment charges are payable upon cargo collection.

The required payment must be completed before the corresponding service can proceed. For digital payments, customers may be required to provide a valid transaction reference or proof of payment.

6. Shipment Declaration

A shipment declaration is required for cargo collected by Kabayan Cargo. The sender is responsible for providing complete and accurate information, including:

  • Sender details
  • Recipient details
  • Philippine delivery address
  • Contact information
  • Cargo or box details
  • Declared contents
  • Other information required for shipment processing

Customers may correct declaration information before the cargo is collected. Once collection has been completed, declaration information cannot normally be changed. Customers may retain a copy of their completed declaration.

7. Identification

The sender may be required to present valid identification during shipment processing. The recipient should also have valid identification available when receiving cargo in the Philippines. Names, addresses, and contact details provided by the customer must be accurate and current.

8. Cargo Contents

Balikbayan shipments are intended for personal and household effects. Goods in commercial quantities or intended for resale are not accepted under the standard balikbayan cargo service. Customers are responsible for checking whether their items may be shipped before packing.

Prohibited, restricted, undeclared, incorrectly declared, or unsuitable items may be refused, held, removed from the shipment, or otherwise handled as required by applicable authorities and operational procedures.

Check Prohibited & Restricted Items →

9. Customs Requirements

Shipments entering the Philippines are subject to the rules, screening procedures, and requirements of the Philippine Bureau of Customs and other relevant authorities.

Kabayan Cargo does not control whether a shipment is selected for inspection or how long official processing may take.

Customers are responsible for providing truthful and accurate shipment information and complying with applicable customs requirements.

10. Customer-Packed Cargo

Unless Kabayan Cargo has specifically provided the packing or crating service, the customer is responsible for ensuring that cargo is packed appropriately for handling and transport.

Boxes should be securely closed and should not be excessively damaged, overfilled, leaking, or otherwise unsuitable for shipment. Fragile, breakable, oversized, or unusually shaped cargo may require additional protection.

11. Kabayan Cargo Packing & Crating

Packing and crating services are available for selected cargo. The customer should provide accurate information regarding the item, size, condition, and any special handling requirements.

Packing and crating quotations may be adjusted if the actual cargo differs materially from the information originally provided.

12. Cargo Collected

The final shipment quantity and applicable charge will be based on the cargo actually collected. Customers may add or remove eligible boxes at collection, subject to available vehicle capacity, serviceability, and operational approval.

After collection, customers receive a shipment reference such as an AKC shipment number for identification and tracking.

13. Shipment Tracking

Tracking information shows the latest recorded shipment stage and is not a live GPS location. Tracking updates may not occur every day, particularly while cargo is:

  • Awaiting shipment
  • Loaded in a container
  • In sea transit
  • In transshipment
  • Under customs processing
  • Awaiting local delivery

A delay in a tracking update does not by itself mean that cargo has been lost.

14. Transit & Operational Delays

Shipment and delivery timing may be affected by circumstances including:

  • Vessel schedules
  • Transshipment connections
  • Port congestion
  • Customs processing
  • Weather
  • Public holidays
  • Local delivery conditions
  • Route disruptions
  • Other circumstances outside normal operational control

Kabayan Cargo will continue processing and coordinating the shipment as the applicable stage becomes available. Estimated transit times should be treated as estimates and not guaranteed delivery dates unless expressly agreed in writing.

15. Philippine Delivery

Final delivery in the Philippines is handled through Kabayan Cargo’s delivery network and forwarding arrangements.

Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate Philippine delivery address and valid recipient contact information. Once a shipment is already in progress, the delivery address cannot normally be changed.

If an urgent correction is required, the sender should contact Kabayan Cargo as soon as possible. Any requested change remains subject to operational feasibility and approval.

16. Failed Delivery

If final delivery cannot be completed, Kabayan Cargo will attempt to coordinate the concern with the sender. Cargo may remain safely stored with the applicable delivery or forwarding facility while the next arrangement is being clarified. Additional arrangements remain subject to the circumstances of the individual shipment.

17. Inspection Upon Delivery

Recipients should inspect the external condition of the cargo at the time of delivery whenever possible. If the box or cargo appears damaged, wet, opened, resealed, or tampered with, the recipient should:

  1. Take clear photographs before opening it further.
  2. Record a video where possible.
  3. Keep the packaging and affected items.
  4. Report the concern as soon as possible.

This information may be required during an investigation.

18. Claims & Cargo Concerns

Concerns involving damaged cargo, missing items, missing shipments, incomplete delivery, wrong delivery, tampering, water damage, or other cargo issues must be reported as soon as possible.

Claims are reviewed individually. Customers may be asked to provide:

  • Shipment number
  • Sender and recipient details
  • Delivery information
  • Shipment declaration
  • Receipt or supporting documents
  • Photographs
  • Videos
  • Description of the concern
  • Proof of item value, where available

Investigation time varies depending on the nature of the case. A shipment is not considered lost until the applicable investigation has been completed.

19. Packing-Related Claims

Where Kabayan Cargo did not provide the packing service, the customer remains responsible for the suitability and quality of the packing.

Claims may be affected or declined where damage is associated with inadequate customer packing.

Where Kabayan Cargo provided the packing or crating service and an investigation determines that the damage resulted from that service, the case may be considered for an appropriate resolution. Any refund, compensation, or other remedy remains subject to investigation and approval.

20. Claim Limitations

Claims may be affected or declined in circumstances involving:

  • Undeclared items
  • Prohibited or restricted items
  • Commercial quantities
  • Incorrect declarations
  • Improper customer packing
  • Fragile items without adequate protection
  • Leakage or deterioration caused by the cargo itself
  • Incorrect sender or recipient information
  • Other circumstances inconsistent with the agreed service

Each concern will be reviewed based on its individual circumstances. Kabayan Cargo does not currently publish a fixed compensation schedule.

21. Cancellations

Customers should request cancellation before the scheduled delivery or collection day. Once an empty-box delivery or cargo collection has already taken place, cancellation may no longer be possible for that completed service.

22. Refunds

Refund requests are reviewed case by case and are subject to approval. Submitting a refund request does not guarantee approval.

Where applicable, the circumstances of the booking, payment, completed service, operational cost, and other relevant factors may be considered.

23. Receipts & Invoices

Receipt vouchers or payment confirmations may be issued digitally or on paper. Customers may request an invoice where required.

Customers should keep relevant receipts, shipment references, deposit references, declarations, and payment records until their transaction or shipment is completed.

24. Customer Responsibility

By submitting a service request, the customer confirms that:

  • The information provided is accurate.
  • The cargo belongs to the sender or the sender is authorized to ship it.
  • The shipment does not knowingly contain prohibited goods.
  • Declared contents reasonably describe what is being shipped.
  • Personal and household cargo is not being sent in prohibited commercial quantities.
  • The recipient and delivery information is correct.
  • Customer-packed cargo has been packed appropriately.
