1. Before You Start Packing

Check What You Can Send

Before placing anything inside your box, make sure it’s allowed for shipment. Some items may be prohibited, restricted, or require special handling.

Check Your Box

Make sure the box is clean, dry, and in good condition. Avoid using a damaged box that may have difficulty holding its shape during handling.

Prepare Your Packing Materials

Keep your protective materials ready before you begin. Depending on what you’re sending, you may need:

  • Bubble wrap or protective wrapping
  • Packing paper
  • Strong packing tape
  • Plastic bags or sealed pouches
  • Cushioning material for fragile items

Packing Tip:

Prepare everything first so you don’t have to rearrange an already packed box later.

Choose the Right Box Size

Avoid choosing a box that is too small just to fit more items inside. Your items should fit securely without forcing the sides or top of the box outward.

2. Pack Your Box Step by Step

Pack Smart and Keep It Secure

The goal is simple: distribute the weight properly, protect fragile items, and reduce unnecessary movement inside the box.

01. Start With Heavier Items

Place heavier and sturdier items toward the bottom of the box. Spread the weight as evenly as possible instead of concentrating everything on one side.

02. Wrap Fragile Items Individually

Wrap breakable items separately and add enough cushioning around them.

Avoid placing glass, ceramics, electronics, or other fragile items directly against the sides of the box or against each other.

Fragile Item Tip:

Clothes, towels, and other soft items can sometimes provide additional cushioning around properly wrapped items.

03. Keep Smaller Items Organized

Group smaller items together where possible. This makes the box easier to pack and helps prevent loose items from moving around.

04. Fill Empty Spaces

Use suitable packing material to fill gaps between items. A well-packed box should have minimal movement inside when handled.

05. Protect Items That Could Leak

Make sure containers are properly closed and packed securely. Use additional protective wrapping where appropriate to help prevent leaks from affecting other items.

Read a step-by-step guide here.

06. Don’t Overpack the Box

More items do not always mean better packing.

Your box should keep its normal shape and close properly without bulging sides or a raised top. Never force the flaps closed under excessive pressure.

Good rule:

If closing the box requires you to sit, stand, or put your full weight on it, it’s probably overpacked.

3. Before You Seal Your Box

Final Packing Checklist

Before reaching for the tape, check that:

✓ Everything inside is allowed for shipment
✓ Fragile items are properly protected
✓ Containers are securely closed
✓ Empty spaces have been filled
✓ Weight is distributed throughout the box
✓ The box closes properly without bulging
✓ Recipient and delivery details are correct

Seal It Securely

Once everything is checked, close the box and secure the openings with strong packing tape.

Pay extra attention to the top and bottom seams so the box remains properly closed throughout handling and transport.

Before pickup:

Keep your recipient details and shipment information ready, and make sure the box is accessible when your collection is scheduled.

Packing Fragile or Larger Items?

Some Items Need a Little More Protection.

TVs, electronics, appliances, furniture, and other large or fragile items may need protective packing or crating instead of regular box packing.
